CHRIS PRATT Describes The “Complicated Situation” Following JAMES GUNN’s Firing

In case you haven’t been on the internet for the past month, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn was fired from Disney following years old, inappropriate tweets resurfacing into public light. He obviously directed the sequel, Vol. 2, and was set to direct the third before his firing. Since then, the main Guardians cast have all spoken out in support of Gunn, but are still adamant on reprising their roles, with the shaky exception of Dave Bautista. Now, leading actor Chris Pratt has offered some updated words on the situation in what he describes as “not an easy time.”

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Christ Pratt elaborated on how this is a very complicated situation for him and the rest of the cast,

“It’s not an easy time. We all love James and he’s a good friend of ours, but we also really love playing the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s a complicated situation for everybody. And you know, we just want to move forward and do what’s right and be the best people we can be.”

He then went on to explain that he stayed away from interviews at the time of the news, so he could fully register his thoughts.

“I love going to Comic-Con but I ended up not doing a lot of interviews around that time just because it was so shocking. All I know is we put a lot of time, thought and effort into the statement that we released about it. And I think we all kind of want that statement to be essentially what we have to say about it. And we were pretty clear and honest about how we feel.”

From the way it sounds, the cast has put out their thoughts, and that’s all they’ll say on the matter for now. While they are all in support of their beloved director and friend, they must move forward and perform the jobs they love doing.

Despite rumors of his return, Disney has recently confirmed that Gunn will not be reinstated. His original script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will likely still be used with another person behind the camera.
