Marvel Studios Looking To Begin Shooting Unknown Phase Four Film In June 2019

With the future of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 still in flux, Marvel is planning to push forward with their other Phase Four projects. According to Omega Underground, Marvel is planning to begin filming an unknown Phase Four film in June 2019 in the United Kingdom.

The three most likely candidates for this slot are Doctor Strange 2, although it has yet to be officially announced, the Black Widow solo film, and The Eternals. Out of those options, the prevailing theory is that the Black Widow film will be the one moving forward.

The film, which will be a prequel for the Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff, already has a director attached in Cate Shortland. Jac Schaeffer, who wrote the upcoming Dirty Rotten Scoundrels remake starring Anne Hathaway, penned the script.

With production beginning mid-2019, it’s likely the film would be shooting for a summer 2020 release date. Marvel currently holds release dates for May 1st and July 31st of 2020.

There’s been some rumbling recently regarding the Doctor Strange sequel, however, without an official announcement, it seems a stretch the film would begin production so early. Scott Derrickson is expected to return to direct the Sorcerer Supreme’s second solo outing.

In regards to The Eternals, the project is confirmed to be in development with Matthew and Ryan Firpo writing the script. Although, without a director attached it will likely be sometime before production kicks off.
