The return of the Worst Heroes Ever will have to wait a little longer. According to Omega Underground, production on Gavin O’Connor’s Suicide Squad 2 has been delayed until at least next fall/winter.
This news comes on the heels of the announcement that O’Connor, who signed on to write and direct Suicide Squad 2 late last year, is set to begin filming the Ben Affleck led The Has-Been in October. That fall start date is in the window of time that the Suicide Squad sequel was going to kick off production.
This delay will now open the door for the stars of the film to look at other projects. Deadshot actor Will Smith is preparing to take on both Bad Boys 3 and Bright 2 in the meantime, the ladder of the two reuniting him with Suicide Squad director David Ayer.
Margot Robbie is expected to return for the Suicide Squad sequel, although, it’s unclear what other members of the cast will return. It’s been rumored that The Rock’s Black Adam will make a cameo appearance in the film, it would mark his first actual appearance if it does come to fruition.
