BREAKING: Alec Baldwin Departs Role As Thomas Wayne In ‘JOKER’

As quickly as he came, he was gone. According to USA Today, Alec Baldwin has departed Todd Phillips’ Joker where he was set to portray Bruce Wayne’s father, Thomas Wayne.

Baldwin cited scheduling issues as the reason for his departure. Telling USA Today, “I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part.” Earlier in the day, Baldwin took to Twitter to debunk the rumor that his Thomas Wayne would resemble an 80s Donald Trump:

A replacement will have to be found fast as cameras are set to begin rolling on September 10th for the Joaquin Phoenix led project. The Lord of the Rings actor Viggo Mortensen reportedly past on the role of Thomas Wayne so WB could look at him once again to fill the void.

The cast of Joker includes Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro, Marc Maron, and Frances Conroy. Martin Scorcese is attached to produce the movie with The Hangover director Todd Philips set to direct.
