Dwayne Johnson’s star power as an actor has easily eclipsed his WWE fame, with his films grossing over $1 billion worldwide. From the sands in The Scorpion King to the streets of Fast and Furious, The Rock has been dominating the worldwide box office, and he looks set to step into new ground in his first biopic with an impressive crew behind him.
Johnson will star as King Kamehameha in The King, which will be directed by Forrest Gump and Back to the Future’s Robert Zemeckis. The legendary filmmaker is joined by Braveheart writer Randall Wallace, who is obviously no stranger to films of this kind.

For those unaware, Kamehameha was the legendary Hawaiian king who was the first to unite the warring islands of his land, which was foretold in a prophecy that followed him since his birth. As king, he opened up trade with other nations and advanced the culture in any way he deemed necessary.
The film will be yet another collaboration between Johnson and New Line Cinema, having already released Rampage and San Andreas.
