DC Universe’s Doom Patrol continues to gather an all-star lineup with the new addition of former-Bond actor Timothy Dalton as the Chief.
Timothy Dalton has been cast in the upcoming 13-episode series that will see a team of unconventional and damaged heroes make a name for themselves as the Doom Patrol. As Dr. Niles “The Chief” Caulder, he’ll be leading the Doom Patrol alongside Cyborg (Joivan Wade). Here’s how his role is being officially described:
Dalton will take on the role of Dr. Niles “The Chief” Caulder, who is described as a pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as the Doom Patrol.
If you’re not a James Bond fan then you may recognize him from Edgar Wright’s Hot Fuzz, but the odds are you’ve seen him in other mediums at some capacity. The legendary actor wasn’t the only big name in talks for the role, a few months ago it was reported Kelsey Grammer was close to closing a deal to play The Chief but evidently, things didn’t pan out. Dalton is a great choice anyway, and it should be clear that DC isn’t pulling any punches with this show.
