The development hell that is the pre-production of Mat Reeves’ The Batman seems to have been going on longer than the DCEU itself. The capacity of Ben Affleck’s role has been questioned for sometime. Along with rumored narrative points of the film, have led us dozens of stories about rumored young actors coming in to play a new Bruce Wayne. Today, another report has hit the web suggesting someone that WB had initial interest in.
Earlier this year, Warner Brothers requested concept art be drawn up with real life actors in the costume. This was done because some actors are busy with other projects or are currently styled differently then desired. Long hair and bushy beards are an example. Kit Harington was one actor they went through this process with early on. Now this could mean that they approached him or they did not like what they saw with the digital mock-ups. But it does further confirm the look and age range they desire if Ben Affleck does not return or only returns for part of the film.
Harington is much younger than Jake Gyllenhaal and goes with more recent reports of Batman being in the 25-30 year old range. Revenge of the Fans also reports that they’ve heard of two other young actors in relation to the role. Jack O’Connell (Unbroken) and Noah Centineo (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before) were named and also fit the same age range as Harington. What do you think of this trio of younger actors?
