Welcome to Badcast! A new way for you to kill time at work or something to read while ignoring your responsibilities! Here we will take a look at past films and reimagine them with a much different cast. This isn’t a reflection on the quality of the film or the talents of specific actors or actresses but instead looking at what could have been.
film character: Superman
This week’s badcast will be slightly different. Following the news that Henry Cavill will no longer be Superman in the
DC Extend… The Worlds of DC *shudders* we thought it would be fun to see who is capable of filling that Red and Blue muscle suit.
Herbert Chavez (Filipino man who received 26 surgeries to look like Superman)
You want to talk dedication to a role?? Herbert Chavez went out of his way to look like the ‘Man of Steel’ because of how inspiring the character is to him. The amount of commitment, money and time far exceeds any A-list “actor” who lifted a few pieces of metal for 6 months. I cannot think of a more fitting candidate for Superman than the man who most closely resembles him.
Now all he needs is the ability to act…
Ben Freakin’ Affleck
Has anyone been more disrespected by Warner Brothers and DC more than Ben Affleck? (excluding Cavill’s upper lip of course) This is man who worked his butt off by lifting pieces of metal for 6 months all while dealing with insane levels of backlash for taking the role to finally end up in two films that weren’t that well received. In between these two films he wrote, directed and starred in his passion project that was under-advertised (by Warner Brothers), panned by critics and a financial flop. While promoting, again, HIS PASSION PROJECT he was repeatedly asked questions on all things “Batman” whether it was “how the script was coming” for the solo film (that he eventually left) to what will happen in the upcoming Justice League.
No f#&$ing s#!t he wants out of this franchise! I can’t even imagine the emotional turmoil it’s taken on this man. He has easily lost decades of his life due to stress from these last few years.
….but he should be Superman.
Henry Cavill But He Keeps The Mustache
WOAH!! WHO IS THAT GUY THAT LOOKS LIKE HENRY CAVILL??? IT OBVIOUSLY ISN’T HIM BECAUSE OF THE FACIAL HAIR. I CAN’T BELIEVE THEY GOT A NEW GUY TO PLAY SUPERMAN!
-Every person in the world if they had left on the mustache in Justice League.*
*According to Warner Brothers.
Has there ever been a star who has completely gone off the radar more-so than Brendan Fraser? This was a man who was at peak stardom in 1999 and then just vanished. Luckily, he has seen a resurgence in many TV dramas such as Trust and The Affair. Now all he needs is a new franchise to tie his name to ever since Tom Cruise decided to be greedy and crap all over the good name of The Mummy.
Let’s get this man in that ‘S’ suit and make a Kingdom Come film already. He is the right age, can deliver the right mix of “strong” and “silent” while also showing the world what it means to be a hero.
This started off as a “Badcast” but as I looked at that image of him and pictured the gray hair on the side of his head I actually excited over the idea of him as Superman. MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Warner Brothers has yet to look at the big picture with their universe. They have been casting older, more experienced actors. What they need to do is cast young and let them grow into the role. And because I don’t feel like googling “Little boy actors” I’ll stick to the only one I know off the top of my head.
The kid was able to act circles around Owen Wilson, God’s Gift to Cinema, in Wonder all while wearing facial prosthetics. Sign him for a 15 picture deal where he plays Clark Kent/Superman at the various stages of his life. Marvel isn’t hiring anyone that young to portray their biggest superhero. Beat them to the punch!
In the same vein as Tremblay, cast the ageless wonder Steve Buscemi and have him grow up as Clark Kent/Superman.
Justin Long as Clark Kent/Danny DeVito as Superman
All I want from this cast is a Wonder Woman-esque transformation from Justin Long to Danny DeVito in a leotard.
There you have it! A bunch of Grade-A casting choices that flew by the wayside. I hope you enjoyed reading this! Let us know what your thoughts @superbromovies on Twitter and tweet us any bad casting choices you think should’ve happened! And be sure to check out last week’s Badcast right here.
