As Season 3 of the Netflix/Marvel’s Daredevil is approaching its confirmed release date of October 19th, Entertainment Weekly has now released more publicity photos for the show. These pictures not only show Matt Murdock/Daredevil in his old black suit, but they also show a reunion between Matt and his best friend Foggy Nelson in a bar. Both images reveal that the title character will make a quick return to the streets of Hell’s Kitchen following the events of The Defenders.

Showrunner Erik Oleson has spoken about the new direction this season will head towards, discussing Matt’s current feelings about being Daredevil:

“Matt goes to pretty much the darkest place you can. When he realizes that he’s incapable of being Daredevil, he would rather just end it than go forward in his life without abilities. He’s decided to set aside his Matt Murdock persona and just be the Devil, to isolate the lighter part of himself.”

In addition, Oleson reveals that the relationship between Matt and Foggy will be strained, which would lead to more problematic interactions:

“Foggy has been trying to move on from Matt’s memory, or at least move on with his life. If you thought one of your close friends was dead and he decided not to tell you he survived, you would probably have some issues with that.”

Season 3 will feature more character arcs, though the ones these recent photos suggest will be among the more vital plot points given how impactful the drama is. At the very least, the first few episodes are likely to serve as an interesting continuation of The Defenders.
