The pilgrimage of massive stars parading back to Atlanta for continuing reshoots of Avengers 4 added another big name.
Following Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Paul Rudd, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans in recent weeks — and Benedict Wong on the same day — Thor star Chris Hemsworth announced on his Instagram story that he was indeed heading back to Pinewood Studios, too.
Hemsworth said he had wrapped up filming on location in London for another major blockbuster, the revival of the Men in Black franchise with Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson, adding that the MIB production is off to several other exotic locales before noting that he also had some unfinished business for Marvel Studios.
By now, he could be on set clutching Stormbreaker already.
“Last day in London,” Hemsworth said in a story posted Friday. “That’s it. Finished the London portion of Men in Black. Now we go to Morocco, little bit of Italy, little bit of Paris, but first we’re going to Atlanta for some Avengers additional photography. It’s going to be fun.”
An hour later, Hemsworth’s story continued with him preparing to board a private jet.
Hemsworth’s character still has a big score to settle with Thanos in the next Avengers film, and while we’re all dying to know how the story concludes, chances are the Thor star himself could be just as curious.
Hulk star Mark Ruffalo recently told the Marvelists Podcast that the additional photography wasn’t entirely reshoots. Ruffalo said the movie never finished filming to being with and still needs to be completed. Recent rumors also suggested that casting/location info indicated an infusion of more Black Panther and Wakanda into the Avengers movie on the heels of Black Panther competing for Oscar recognition.
And while tales from the set of Avengers: Infinity War revealed that actors were kept in the dark about the fates of their characters during the now infamous Snapture/Snappening until the day of shooting, could the conclusion of the still untitled fourth Avengers film be shrouded in the same level of mystery?
Also, could the timing of Hemsworth’s arrival and Wong’s recent appearance on set be related? Would you be excited about getting a Thor-Wong team-up or would you rather see the Asgardian king partnered up with another character?
