With the recent release of the Dark Phoenix trailer, fans can look forward to seeing the latest adaptation of the Dark Phoenix saga with the newer X-Men cast. So far, the trailer has received nearly eight million views on YouTube. However, it turns out audiences will have to wait longer to see the final product as the movie has now changed its release date from February 14, 2019 to June 7, 2019.
In fact, this is one of several release date changes that 20th Century Fox has just announced. Alita: Battle Angel, the latest effects extravaganza from Robert Rodriguez, has moved its release date from December 21, 2018 to February 14, 2019, thereby filling the slot that Dark Phoenix left behind. Furthermore, the Channing Tatum-starring Gambit has moved its release date from June 7, 2019 to March 2020, meaning that Dark Phoenix now has Gambit’s original release slot.
Given the previous and current release dates for the three films, it is evident that Fox moved the dates around to days in which they already had another project scheduled for release. It will be interesting to see how the box office performance will be now that these three have new release dates.
