The official Star Wars website has dropped new details regarding Jon Favreau’s upcoming Star Wars tv show, titled ‘The Mandalorian’, with a first official look at what seems to be the titular character as well as the talent that will be joining behind the camera to direct episodes of the hotly anticipated series.
In the post on StarWars.com, pit was revealed that production has begun on the show, which is to be a part of a streaming service, as well as a plot details, which involve a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from, “the authority New Republic”. What was most interesting though, is the directors announced for the episodes of the series, with some seriously high profile names going behind the camera to direct episodes. In a quote from the website, the talent is detailed below:
The series will be written and executive produced by Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau, as previously announced, with Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) directing the first episode. Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).
The most notable names from this list are Rick Famuyiwa, previously attatched to the Flash and director of indie hit Dope, as well as Marvel Studios darling Taika Waititi, director of indie films such as Hunt for the Wilderpeople and What We Do in the Shadows. This blockbuster talent were surely draw attention to the show and it will be exciting to see what such different talents bring to the table for this show. On top of all this, a first official look at the show has been revealed, showcasing the titular character. Check it out:
