‘DEADPOOL 2’ PG-13 Cut Will Feature A New Character & 15 Minutes Of New Footage

With the release dates for upcoming Fox projects like Alita: Battle Angel, Dark Phoenix, and Gambit being pushed back in favor of a re-edited PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2, fans have been wondering what to expect for this more family-friendly version of what was originally a raunchy action comedy. It turns out that Fox has released information to theatre owners which explains the major differences between this cut, titled The Deadpool Before Christmas, and the existing versions of the movie. The Deadpool Before Christmas will have a new character as well as fifteen minutes of new footage.

The studio does not explicitly state what the new scenes will be, though it is likely that a percentage of it will consist of a new framing narrative. Ryan Reynolds’s recent tweet featuring him in the Deadpool costume alongside Fred Savage provides a tease as for what to expect. The tweet also implies that Savage, reprising his role from The Princess Bride, will be the aforementioned new character.

Fox’s statement also confirms the cut’s softer approach towards violence and language, since it refers to it as an “adapted version” suited for those who could not watch the original Deadpool due to age restrictions. The Deadpool Before Christmas will be released internationally, so audiences in a wide variety of territories shall get the chance to experience this new, clean edit that contains many omissions and additions.

What do you think about these additions to the PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2? Be sure to tweet your thoughts at @superbromovies and stay tuned for more Deadpool 2 news. – Mark Tan
