If ever there was a time to get back into the CW superhero shows, this is it.
Just hours ago, Arrow star Stephen Amell tweeted an image from the CW’s upcoming crossover event “Elseworlds”, featuring none other than John Wesley Shipp as the Scarlet Speedster himself, The Flash:
Fans of the character can immediately recognize the significance of this moment. John Wesley Shipp portrayed The Flash during the short-lived, though beloved, series of the same name from 1990. Aside from just that, he’s starred as both Barry Allen’s father, Henry Allen, and Jay Garrick, a version of The Flash from Earth-2.
This moment has been a long time coming, and it’s certainly not lost on executive producer Marc Guggenheim, who posted an even better look at Shipp in costume:
Between bringing together every CW superhero show other than Black Lightning and Legends of Tomorrow, introducing Ruby Rose’s Batwoman to the world, and even having Barry Allen and Oliver Queen switch vigilante personas, the CW-verse’s fifth annual event is certainly not wanting for intrigue. Whether or not it all these moving parts will fit together is another matter entirely, but it’s certainly ambitious.
What do you think of John Wesley Shipp putting on The Flash’s cowl once again? How do you think he’ll factor into the story?
