Before her take on DC’s New Gods, director extraordinaire Ava DuVernay is getting her next project lined up with Netflix, and it’s a doozie. Just two years after his passing, the legendary Prince is getting a documentary surrounding his life.
This won’t be just any documentary: with the support of his estate, it will be the quintessential watch for any Prince fan. They have had full cooperation with his estate, which means they will be able to use all images, videos, and music of the late singer. The streaming service giant is sure this will be a major success for them and with a big talent like Ava DuVernay, there’s little to no chance they’ll disappoint.
DuVernay, who will possibly be directing this project for Netflix, is no stranger to documentaries. After creating the groundbreaking 13th doc for them, she will continue their successful partnership until she moves on to her next blockbuster. She is currently directing and writing Central Park Five for Netflix, and her next step is Prince.
The documentary will be split into separate parts, but it isn’t not clear how long it will be. It is assumed that it will cover most of his life, getting deeply personal and into areas we have yet seen before.
