While the state of the DCEU is in a constant state of flux, one film that has been progressively moving forward since it was first announced is the Margot Robbie-starring Birds of Prey.
With casting announcements recently confirming that Jurnee Smollet-Bell will play Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play Huntress, and Rosie Perez will play Renee Montoya, the cast is finally beginning to take form for the highly anticipated all-female superhero team-up film starring Harley Quinn.
While it has long been known that classic Batman villain and notorious crime boss Black Mask would be playing a vital role in the film, there has been no word on which actor would don the classic skull.
Now, as first reported by The Wrap, Ewan McGregor has signed on to join the ensemble film as the big bad.
McGregor is best known for his role as Obi Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars Saga and is currently hard at work filming the live-action adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘Doctor Sleep.’ With Cathy Yates set to direct and Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn, this film has the potential to be one of the highest praised DCEU films to date.
