An Oscar-winning actress has joined DC’s next blockbuster. According to EW, Julie Andrews has been cast in Aquaman.
The Mary Poppins star will voice Karathen, “an undersea creature that holds the key to Arthur Curry’s quest to unite the Atlantean and surface worlds.” Andrews will appear alongside Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, Ludi Lin, and Temuera Morrison.
An interesting tidbit that surrounds this story is that Aquaman will go toe-to-toe with Mary Poppins Returns at the box office. Andrews declined to make a cameo in the sequel to her 1964 classic as to not take away from Emily Blunt’s performance as the titular Mary Poppins. We will see if Andrews’ star power will have any effect on the financial battle between the films next month.
