America’s Dad is looking to become the dad of a wooden puppet who just wants to be a real boy! Tom Hanks is in talks to play Geppetto in Disney’s Pinocchio.
Hanks is in final negotiations to play the man who brings Pinocchio to life in Paul King’s upcoming Pinocchio. King is coming off a hot-streak from the well-beloved children’s films Paddington and Paddington 2.
The film is a retelling of the classic animated Disney film of the same name about a living puppet who is brought to life by a magic fairy and yearns to become a “real boy.” Very Disney cookie-cutter.
Hanks has already played Walt in Saving Mr. Banks, so why not have him as one of Disney’s most beloved grey-haired characters.
This is the latest film in a line of Disney reimaginings starting with Alice in Wonderland all the way to next year’s Dumbo, Aladdin and The Lion King.
