Kevin Smith Teases a “Spellbinding” & “Heartwarming” Conclusion In ‘STAR WARS: EPISODE IX’

We may be a year out but the excitement surrounding the final chapter of the Star Wars saga is building. Famous nerd and fanboy Kevin Smith, while promoting his new stand-up special, talked about his experience on the set of Star Wars: Episode IX.

Smith was on Lights Camera Barstool this week and was willing to share what he could regarding the final chapter in the Skywalker Saga. Here’s what he had to say when initially talking about his trip to England for a week:

“That was incredible. Like, oh my god, that movie looks phenomenal. Nobody is talking about it right now because they’re in production and it don’t come out for a f%&kin’ year and stuff but like, I saw things. I was there for a week and watched two scenes get filmed.”

When asked if the things that shocked him had to do with the repercussions of Star Wars: The Last Jedi he had this to say:

“It had nothin’ to do with Last Jedi. The things I saw, that blew my mind are on a Star Wars-level. All universe, all flicks. There were some details I heard that *gasps* since they’re wrapping this up with nine.”

Smith then describes how he felt about the film as it finishes production:

“What I saw was spellbinding and heartwarming and, boy did they get the right guy. What I saw was massive too. The biggest thing I’ve ever seen in my life, the biggest set I’d seen in my life.”

Smith concludes the discussion by proudly admitting to crying during his trip:

“Everyone should have a good-ass cry. I watched a performance that was a career-best (Star Wars) performance on set. It’s going to be amazing. That movie, what I saw, we always knew it would be wonderful and J.J. (Abrams) did a great job with Force Awakens, oh my lord.”

That is a man who loved what he saw. It’ll be interesting to find out whose “career-best” performance he was talking about. It isn’t out of the realm of possibility it’s one of the new members (Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver) but specifying the Star Wars aspect might lead me to believe it’s Mark Hamill or even Billy Dee Williams, who is returning for his final outing as Lando Calrissian.
