Another TV superstar has joined the cast of Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars series. Breaking Bad alum Giancarlo Esposito will appear alongside Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian.
The official Star Wars website unveiled a press release introducing Pascal as the titular star of the upcoming series. To accompany the confirmation, a cast list for The Mandalorian was released which included Gina Carano, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, Nick Nolte, and, of course, Esposito.
The veteran actor has worked with Favreau in the past, appearing as Akela in 2016s The Jungle Book. His other credits include Better Call Saul, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and the upcoming Stargirl movie, which will debut on the Disney+ streaming service.
Favreau, who is serving as an executive producer on the series, had this to say about the star-studded cast:
“We’re having a great time working with this incredibly talented group and excited for everyone to see what we’re up to.”

The Mandalorian is expected to debut in 2019 on Disney+
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
