Following the box office success of Venom, Sony wasted no time getting a sequel in development. Today, according to Variety, the studio has tapped writer Kelly Marcel to pen the script.
Marcel is credited as both a writer and executive producer on Venom. She will now have the task of writing Carnage into live-action as Woody Harrelson is set to take on the iconic comic role in the sequel. Tom Hardy and Michelle Willaims are also expected to reprise their roles.
Director Ruben Fleisher, on the other hand, is not expected to return as production on Venom 2 will potentially overlap with filming on Zombieland 2, which he is set to helm.
