After a casting call earlier this week teased the appearance of Jericho on DC’s Titans, a new report now claims his father, Deathstroke, will end up being the main villain of Season 2. To add to that, his daughter Rose Wilson will also appear. Seems like a normal family affair to me.
Last year, executive producer Geoff Johns revealed to fans at New York Comic-Con that a “new” version of Deathstroke would appear in a future season. According to That Hashtag Show, he’s appearing way sooner than most thought. In Season 2, they’re going with a grounded take on the character that will fit in the show and set him up as the main baddie. Here’s what THS had to say:
In this universe, Slade Wilson will be portrayed as a military man with a family but whose demanding nature tore that family apart. Described as a dedicated and patriotic solider, Slade is forced into early retirement by the military, setting him on a path of vengeance on those who he believes betrayed him.
His motivations seem very personal this time around and this could make him a fantastic villain for the show. Rose Wilson and Jericho will make up his divided family, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are very early versions of the comic characters. For Rose, they are looking to have her appear throughout the season, and possibly join the Titans team.
When the season begins, Rose is a strong, yet damaged woman looking to put her past behind her and find a new family to replace the one that her father destroyed. The studio is looking to cast either a mixed Latinx or mixed Asian actress, 18-21, in the role.
Assuming Deathstroke is indeed the main villain of next season, there is a good chance we’ll see his origin completely reimagined on the small screen. His addition here is particularly surprising due to DC Films planning on using the character, played by Joe Manganiello. Fans would probably love to see Manganiello ditch the movie version and join the show, but there’s a very good chance they are looking to cast someone new.
