Netflix announced Friday that Sex Education has been renewed for a second season. The streaming service estimated over 40 million households watching it within the first four weeks. Created and written by Laurie Nunn, Sex Education stars Gillian Anderson as a Sex therapist and mother to Otis (Asa Butterfield), a socially awkward high school student. The show has already received much appreciation for its direct take on the topic.
“Laurie Nunn has captured the awkward teenage experiencewith a lot of heart & humour in Sex Education. Along with the eleven team and executive producer and director Ben Taylor, she’s created a universally relatable series that has resonated with our members around the world.”
-Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content, Netflix
Although the second season is yet to receive a release date, we are sure that the series is going to return with eight more episodes. Filming is set to begin in the spring.
