During one of the most emotional and dramatic episodes in Marvel Television history (season 3, episode 13 “Parting Shot”), fan favorites Lance Hunter and Bobbi Morse AKA Mockingbird (Adrienne Palicki) said their goodbyes after being compromised during a failed mission to capture the villainous head of HYDRA, Gideon Mack.

The episode was a fitting sendoff for the couple who had spent a year being assets to the team and growing as characters who were genuinely beloved and accepted by the masses.

However, as first reported by Entertainment Weekly, Nick Blood will be reprising his role as Lance Hunter in the upcoming fifth season of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

The news comes after ABC decided to pass on a S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off series called ‘Marvel’s Most Wanted’ which would follow Lance and his beau Bobbi as they attempted to fight the good fight regardless of being kick out of S.H.I.E.L.D., which the episode set up perfectly during the emotional final moments of their final episode to date. It depicted a devastated Coulson, Daisy, May, and FitzSimmons as they raised a glass to freedom in honor of their friends. The scene gets even more heart-wrenching as Mack, a lifelong friend of both Lance and Bobbi, lingered and took one more shot with tears sliding down his face.

Details on what brings Blood back, how the cliffhanger ending will affect the team, or any other plot details for season 5 are being kept tightly sealed, so fans will have to wait for the conclusion of ‘Marvel’s Inhumans’ to find out what will happen to our favorite group of ragtag spies and superheroes.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is expected to return later this season.
