Here are all the upcoming Marvel movies and shows with a real date or a confirmed window, from now through 2028. The short version: Marvel has one live-action show left this year, one giant movie at Christmas, and a very quiet 2027 on the big screen. Each entry has its platform, where it stands in production, and a source, so you can check our work.
Two Marvel movies are still in theaters right now, by the way: Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the Avengers: Endgame re-release, Endgame: Encore, which Disney says includes new footage that sets up Doomsday.

Marvel in 2026: two left, and they’re big ones
VisionQuest: October 14, Disney+
Paul Bettany is back as the Vision, and James Spader returns as Ultron. Marvel dropped the trailer at D23 in August (Marvel.com). It’s eight episodes that open with two on premiere night, and the run wraps on Nov 25, per Wikipedia’s episode list. It’s the last chapter of the story that started in WandaVision and continued in Agatha All Along.
Why it matters: It’s the MCU’s last live-action show of 2026, and bringing back Spader’s Ultron is exactly the kind of legacy move Marvel has been leaning on all year. Our VisionQuest review lands once we’ve seen it.
Avengers: Doomsday: December 18, theaters
The Russo brothers’ first Avengers movie since Endgame, with Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom. It was supposed to open on May 1, 2026, until Marvel pushed both Avengers movies back in May 2025 (Variety). It’d already sold $50 million in presales by early September, according to Disney (TheWrap). Disney hasn’t announced a Disney+ date yet.

Marvel in 2027: one movie and a stack of Disney+ seasons
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2: January 2027, Disney+
Marvel Animation showed footage at D23 and set a January 2027 window. The season brings in Gwen Stacy, Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote, plus Doc Ock (Deadline). It was originally supposed to come out this fall (Bleeding Cool).
Why it matters: It’s the MCU’s main Spider-Man story on Disney+, and symbiotes are pretty much a guaranteed way to get people watching.
Daredevil: Born Again season 3: 2027, Disney+
Season 3 will be the last. It wrapped filming this summer and is due on Disney+ in 2027, but showrunner Dario Scardapane has left the show in the middle of post-production (Deadline, THR). There’s no exact date, but Brad Winderbaum has said Marvel wants a new season every March, so March 2027 is the one to watch (TV Guide).
Why it matters: Born Again is Marvel’s most reliable show right now, and a planned ending is rare for the MCU. How they handle the showrunner exit will shape the final season.
X-Men ’97 season 3: 2027, Disney+
At Comic-Con, Winderbaum said season 3 is finished and headed to Disney+ in 2027, and that season 4 is already being written (GamesRadar+). There’s no month yet.
Why it matters: The mutants are coming to the MCU from three directions at once, and this is the one that’s already landing. Our X-Men in the MCU guide sorts it all out.
Marvel Zombies season 2: date not announced, Disney+
Winderbaum confirmed in April that season 2 is in production and said he’d seen an animatic of the first episode (MovieWeb). Season 1 dropped around Halloween, so a fall 2027 release would fit the pattern, but that’s our guess, not an announcement.
Why it matters: Marvel TV’s animation side is putting out way more than its live-action side right now.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse: June 18, 2027, theaters (Sony)
This is Sony Pictures Animation’s film, not Marvel Studios’, and it’s not part of the MCU. It still belongs on your calendar. Sony moved it up a week, from June 25 to June 18, 2027 (Variety), and there’s no full trailer as of Sep 28, 2026.
Why it matters: It finishes the story Across the Spider-Verse left on a cliffhanger in 2023. That’s a four-year wait for part two of a two-parter.
Avengers: Secret Wars: December 17, 2027, theaters
The Russos are back to close out the Multiverse Saga. Filming is set to start later this year, and Noah Jupe has joined the cast (Deadline). It’s the only MCU movie of 2027. Kevin Feige told Empire that Marvel “didn’t want to be spread thin” and called Secret Wars a setup for what comes next (via SlashFilm).
Why it matters: Everything after it, from the X-Men reboot on down, depends on how this one resets the board.
2028 and beyond: the next wave
- X-Men, May 5, 2028. Jake Schreier directs. At D23, Marvel announced a new cast that includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister (Marvel.com). Popverse reported filming would start around the end of this summer (Popverse); Marvel hasn’t announced a start date. Why it matters: it’s the MCU’s own X-Men, separate from the Fox team in Doomsday.
- Ghost Rider, July 28, 2028. Ryan Gosling plays Johnny Blaze and Shawn Levy directs. It was announced in Hall H in July (Deadline) and got its date in August (Variety). Why it matters: it’s the biggest star Marvel has signed as a new lead in years.
- Black Panther 3, December 15, 2028. Ryan Coogler returns, and David Jonsson plays T’Challa’s son (Variety). Why it matters: it’s Coogler’s first Marvel movie since Wakanda Forever.
Announced, but no dates: Armor Wars, a Nova movie, Shang-Chi 2 and a Fantastic Four sequel are all listed as in development (Wikipedia’s MCU film list). Destin Daniel Cretton says Shang-Chi 2 isn’t on hold (The Playlist). Director Matt Shakman may not return for the Fantastic Four sequel, according to reports (ComicBookMovie), though Marvel hasn’t confirmed that. And Blade? Feige called its collapse a failure on his part in August (Variety), so don’t hold your breath.
Let’s be real: the slate is thin, and it keeps moving
We’re into the next two Avengers movies. We’re also not going to pretend this schedule looks healthy.
- 2027 is basically empty. One MCU movie in a whole year. Feige’s quality-over-quantity pitch makes sense after years of too much content, but it also means that if Doomsday disappoints, there’s nothing to change the conversation for 12 months.
- Dates keep sliding. Both Avengers movies were pushed back seven months. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man slipped from fall 2026 to January. Beyond the Spider-Verse was first dated for March 2024 (Wikipedia). At this point, a Marvel release date is more like a strong suggestion.
- Renewals don’t mean much. Wonder Man got a season 2 renewal in March and was canceled in July, before a writers’ room ever opened (Variety). Viewers are right to be skeptical when Marvel says something is coming back.
- Nothing new on Disney+. Look at the 2027 TV list above. Every show on it is a returning season. There’s no new live-action series with a date after VisionQuest.
- Behind-the-scenes churn. A showrunner leaving Daredevil mid-post, Blade stuck for years, and a Fantastic Four sequel that may be losing its director. None of that guarantees a bad result (Born Again season 1 was reworked mid-production and turned out fine). It’s just not the steady machine Marvel used to be.
The fair counterpoint: fewer releases could mean fewer duds. Marvel’s 2028, with X-Men, Ghost Rider and Black Panther 3, actually looks stronger than anything it’s lined up in years. The next 15 months just have to get it there.

We only list projects with an official date, an official window, or a named creative confirming the project is in the works. Rumored titles, leaked footage and “insider” release dates stay off this page until a studio or a trade confirms them. When Marvel moves something, we update the table and the date at the top.
