X-Men films have been a staple in pop culture since 2000 and with 3 films within the franchise coming being released this year alone, they are showing absolutely no signs of slowing down.
With that in mind, our friends over at Collider are reporting that Tim Miller, the critically acclaimed director of Deadpool, is currently putting pen to paper and developing a solo film starring the phasing mutant and legendary X-Men team member Kitty Pryde!
Kitty Pryde, who debuted in Marvel Comics in 1980 and who has previously been played by Sumela Kay, Katie Stuart, and, most famously, Ellen Page in previous X-Men films, is one of the most influential characters in the Marvel Universe. She has gone by Shadowcat, Ariel, Sprite, and, most recently, Star-Lord in her 30-plus years as a member of the X-Men.
While this film is very much in development at FOX, given the recent $52.4 billion merger with Disney, it is not a lock for reaching production and being released.
This news comes as kind of a shock for reasons other than the fact that fans have been talking about nothing but the idea of the X-Men joining forces with The Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tim Miller potentially taking the reins of another X-Men film following his controversial departure from Deadpool 2 is exciting news for fans of his previous superhero work.
