Jason Momoa’s Aquaman has made waves at the worldwide box office, and audiences seem to have warmly embraced the actor’s take on DC’s heroic king of Atlantis. Interestingly, Momoa was considered for the role of Drax the Destroyer in James Gunn’s 2014 hit, Guardians of the Galaxy. Today, Marvel concept artist Charlie Wen has taken to Instagram to share a glimpse at what could have been for one of Marvel’s most humorous heroes.
Though the design isn’t so radically different from Dave Bautista’s, many would agree that Momoa is much more well suited for the role of a hot headed Arthur Curry. Gunn’s take on Drax has emphasized his humor over his brutality, and Bautista’s performance has helped make the character a household name.
You can catch Drax in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, Vol. 2., and Avengers: Infinity War. Keep it here for all the latest in entertainment news, and head on over to our Twitter for more.
