We’ve known for some time that the X-Men/Fantastic Four films from Fox would cease to exist eventually. Well, today the news has finally come. The Disney/Fox merger deal was officially announced last year and has gained tons of traction. The deal is to be finalized this year and with that comes the end of an era. Many of us have grown up with Hugh Jackman as Logan /Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Halle Berry as Ororo Munroe/Storm, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm, Micheal Chiklis as Thing, etc… These films will always be remembered, but now they are over and done with.
Gambit, Dr. Doom, Silver Surfer, Kitty Pryde, and Multiple Man are all dead. The good thing is, now hopefully in the MCU we get a fresh start and take with Dr. Doom and Silver Surfer. Our latest take of Victor Von Doom in 2015’s Fantastic Four film starring Micheal B. Jordan and Miles Teller. The film was hated by fans and critics alike. Now, with the Disney/Fox merger, we are going to see a new take on the X-Men and Fantastic Four in the MCU.
X-Force isn’t “officially” dead but it pretty much isn’t happening. There’s been no announcement on Ryan Reynold’s future as Deadpool, but hopefully, Disney retains him. Dark Phoenix will be the last X-Men film of the ongoing series, but the last official X-Men film from Fox will be the anticipated (at least for me) New Mutants. The films will be released this year and then we move to an MCU era that will finally include some of Marvel’s most famous characters. The future is bright but it comes with a sad ending.
