Matt Reeves’ The Batman has been a source of incredible turmoil and confusion for fans. For nearly a year now, casting rumors have run rampant for who would replace Ben Affleck as Batman or who would play a younger version in flashbacks. Recently, it has appeared that Affleck is getting through a difficult time in his life and possibly want to go back to work in a place where fans love him. Today, a new report sheds light on a newly named actor for a role in the movie
That Hashtag Show is running a story, they’re deeming a rumor, that Jack O’Connell (Unbroken) is being eyed by Warner Brothers for The Batman. They had heard the name but for specifics on the role, they could not obtain. They are saying that it could be for Batman or someone in the Bat-Family, which could include Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, or Tim Drake.
O’Connell is a 28-year-old British actor, so he fits the age range previously rumored for what they were aiming for a new Bruce. The mention of a Batfamily possibility is intriguing. WB would want to keep Affleck to not have another PR mess.
O’Connell has a long history of playing characters in prison or with criminal pasts. He would make the perfect Jason Todd. Who do you think he could be playing? Tweet us @superbromovies – Cole
