In one of the most exciting and unexpected turn of events in all of 2018, Marvel Studios is looking to take a turn towards the dark side in future installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With little known about the post-Avengers 4 MCU besides sequels featuring Spider-Man Black Panther as well as films based on Black Widow and The Eternals, it looks like the creative powers-that-be are hard at work at taking the highest grossing film franchise in cinematic history to a whole new level.
As first reported by our friends over at That Hashtag Show, Marvel Studios has developed, written, and completed a script for a potential live action adaptation of The Dark Avengers.
Created by comic book legend Brian Michael Bendis, The Dark Avengers were created in early 2009 in the wreckage of the Secret Invasion by the Skrulls (debuting in next year’s Captain Marvel) as a form of protection for the Earth after the people of the world lost faith in The Avengers after so many of them turned out to be Skrulls. The team included Sentry, Noh-Varr and Ares and was lead by Norman Oxborn, the then head of S.H.I.E.L.D., in the Iron Patriot armor.
While this news is very exciting indeed, it does not guarantee that a Dark Avengers film will ever be made. Marvel Studios has completed for scripts for films that have never seen the light of day before.
But for the time being, what do you think? Who would you cast as Norman Osborn? Let us know over at @superbromovies and in the comments below!
