Kevin Feige Says Marvel TV and Movies Will Crossover

Marvel has begun ramping up its TV Universe. ‘Inhumans’ and ‘Cloak and Dagger’ have both had promos released recently and ‘Agents of Shield’ is wrapping up its 4th season ‘The Defenders’ is also set to be released on Netflix in August. As much as people enjoy these shows, the public is really keen on seeing the shows crossing over with the MCUs movies. There has been a lot of negative news regarding that topic but Kevin Feige seemed to have a different answer.

Feige was asked about the topic during an interview with io9. He was asked whether a character showing up in TV meant they couldn’t appear in a movie:

“Not necessarily,” Feige told io9. “The future’s a long time. So, the truth is, I don’t really know, but there are a lot of TV shows being made, and hopefully we’ll continue to make a lot of movies. At some point, there’s going to be a crossover. Crossover, repetition, or something.”

We’ve seen movies crossover into TV before, Nick Fury and Lady Sif appeared on ‘Agents of Shield’ and if you watch the ABC show, they’re a plethora of easter eggs and references to the larger MCU. We also always get a call back to “the incident” in the Netflix show, siting the Chitauri invasion of New York in ‘The Avengers’.

The biggest issue with this idea is that TV and movie schedules are vastly different and often are very tight and structured. As much as we’d love Daredevil to pop up in ‘Infinity  War’ or Kingpin in ‘Spider-Man’, a lot of the time the logistics just don’t work.  The only saving grace may be that the TV universe is getting so large, as time goes it will be difficult to keep the TV heroes out of the movies. Feige’s comments are positive ones and means we shouldn’t rule out a cameo or two as the universe continues to expand. –Jackson Hayes
