DC Creates ‘Wonder Woman Day’ for June 3rd

DC has just created Wonder Woman Day, a celebration of the hero’s 75+ years in comics and upcoming solo film. Her official celebration day will be June 3rd, the day after her solo movie releases in theaters.

The celebration is to “honor the 75-year legacy of the Amazon princess,” DC says. Over 2,000 stores and libraries will honor the celebration in some way, including distributing free copies of special edition issues of two series, one marketed towards older readers (Wonder Woman  by Greg Rucka) and one marketed towards younger readers (DC Superhero Girls by Shea Fontana). Each issue will be a selected work from their respective ongoing series.

We also get a look at the logo for the celebration:

This isn’t DC’s first superhero celebration, as Superman Day is just a few days after Wonder Woman Day and Batman Day takes place in September. Wonder Woman Day completes the DC trilogy, honoring one of the oldest superheroes in comics.

This will also be a great opportunity for sales of DC’s Wonder Woman-themed products, as digital comics will be on sale and comic shops are likely to offer discounts on hard-copies of Wonder Woman-related books. DC will also make videos, toys, games, activities, and apps available for the celebration.

Be sure to use #WonderWomanDay on social media!

Wonder Woman– Before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that’s raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.

Wonder Woman releases in theaters on June 2nd, 2017.
