A new trailer for the upcoming game, Mavericks: Proving Grounds has been released recently. The 400 player battle royale teaser looks to feature some nice looking visuals and environment, but doesn’t feature much in terms of gameplay.
The game is currently in development at the UK studio Automaton Games. Formerly known as Project X the game features a 12km squared “living and breathing” world according to the developers. And it promises to have dynamic elements like wildfires which can spread and more.
As Automaton’s James Thompson told PC Gamer,
“This year, we’re coming out with our competitive, Battle Royale-style mode, which we hope will show that there is so much more for that genre than what people have seen today. How much more we can do with the game world and the [Battle Royale] game mode as a whole.”
The game is scheduled to be released in 2018 but is just one part of the game. The full game will support 1000 concurrent players in an “ultra-high fidelity world, which will be added in 2019.
