Recently, the Margot Robbie led Birds of Prey movie solidified its cast with the additions of Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and Rosie Perez. Following these castings, we now have a rumor that could shed light on the actresses respective roles and their character motivations.

According to Revenge of the Fans, the heroines, which includes Harley Quinn, Huntress, Black Canary, and Renne Montoya, will start the film on their own separate journeys. The report states the following:

  • Black Canary (Smollett-Bell) is a singer who fights crime at night.
  • Huntress (Winstead) was a killer for Black Mask right up until discovering that he killed her family. So now she’s hunting him down.
  • Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) is trying to move on from The Joker (who is referenced, but not seen).
  • Renee Montoya, on the other hand, is on Huntress and Black Canary’s trail because of the body count they’ve amassed.

The inciting incident that brings the team together is reportedly the kidnapping of Cassandra Cain by Black Mask. That information would corroborate the synopsis for the film that has been making the rounds in recent months. Our own DanielRPK has been all over the Cassandra Cain aspect, liking her role to X-23’s in Logan.
