Looks like the Bat Family is starting to grow a bit more in the DCEU. Variety is reporting that a Batgirl standalone is getting a greenlight to be made. The film will have Joss Whedon not only direct but write and produce the film also. Whedon and WB are getting close to inking a deal to add yet another Bat Family standalone to their DCEU Film Slate.
At the time no other producers are attached to the film but WB Toby Emmerich, Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will oversee the project. This is now the second member of the Bat Family to have reportedly gotten their own standalone movie with Nightwing being the other. Joss Whedon will also being pulling a JJ Abrams by switching sides from Marvel to DC just like how JJ switched from Star Trek to Star Wars. Whedon in the past has directed both Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron so he is no stranger to superhero moves. He was also once asked to be involved with a Wonder Woman movie in the past before the DCEU was created so looks like WB still wants him in their playground. The Batgirl movie does not have a release date at this time or any actress attached to play the character. Are you hyped for this movie and do you think this is the right move for WB?
