After enduring the criticism of three movies involving Superman, Henry Cavill is ready to take the next step for the Man of Steel in another movie.
“There’s a wonderful opportunity to tell the Superman story. Now there is a fantastic chance to show Superman in his full colors and tell a very complex, character-driven movie that is based on [the] story and have that wonderful sensation of hope and happiness. A feel-good movie with lessons laced in there as well.”
After seeing Justice League, I want to see more Superman. I want to see the confidence and optimism at an all time high in potential future films for Superman. It resonates with my childhood growing up from the comics and animated cartoons on why Superman was such a likable fan favorite character. I am starting to understand what director Zack Snyder had planned for Superman.
Snyder’s vision started off with Clark Kent trying to understand the benefits and consequences of being Superman in Man of Steel, then in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Clark learned that being a superhero can really affect others around him and also learned the struggles of working in a team which ultimately led to his death. In Justice League, when he was brought back to life, it gave him a whole new perspective on life and he felt more positive about his second chance. This is indeed a great opportunity for Cavill to have Superman grow.
While there is no script yet for Man of Steel 2, I have to think that the positive critiques of Cavill’s performance will eventually get the ball rolling for a sequel. He shouldn’t have to get the blame for the writing and the dark tones from each of the films. Cavill has one more film on his contract. I do hope they extend his contract. I simply love what Cavill has done with Superman.
It was confirmed that the Kingsman: Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn was in talks to direct the sequel, but we haven’t heard anything since. After seeing Kingsman, I am willing to see a Man of Sequel movie with a Vaughn version. Let’s get the ball rolling for a Man of Steel sequel!
