‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ has finally hit theaters, and that calls for multiple questions and viewings for fans. When first watching a film, it’s normal to miss some things that seem obvious after you’ve watched it, and this film is no exception. The Last Jedi contains a lot of hidden things, from easter eggs to little hints about continuity and certain things that happened. I should mention just in case that this article contains spoilers, so if you haven’t seen ‘The Last Jedi’, do yourself a favor and go watch it. Here are 5 things you might have missed in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI.
———————————————–SPOILERS FOR ‘THE LAST JEDI’—————————————
1) Rey Takes The Sacred Jedi Texts
At the end of The Last Jedi, we see Finn grab a blanket for Rose, but in a quick blink or miss it moment, we see the Jedi texts that Luke thought were burned when Yoda struck lightning to the Force tree. Yoda knew Rey had taken them, but did you see when she stores them in the Millennium Falcon? Right before she gets in a pod to Snoke’s ship, there’s a quick cut to Rey closing a drawer in the Falcon, the same drawer Finn later opens to get Rose a blanket.
2) Multiple hints to Luke not being in Crait
From the moment Luke walks out, the scene has various hints towards whether Luke is actually there or not. When he walks out and Supreme Leader Ren (sounds nice right?) orders the First Order to fire everything at him, Luke survives and then proceeds to “wipe off” the dust off his shoulders, but he didn’t have not one spec of residue on him. This isn’t as obvious as the other hints, such as Luke using his father’s lightsaber (which had been shattered just a couple of scenes back) and him not leaving footprints on Crait, something heavily focused on the soldiers and Kylo when he stands in his fighting stance. The one hint that’s immediately shown from the moment he greets Leia is that he has a haircut and appears to have colored his hair again. Unless the caretakers possess a lot of Just for Men, then this is a clear hint as well. There are a lot of hints, so one viewing is a little hard in order to catch them all.
3) Han’s Dice
This isn’t as hard to find as the others, since it’s pretty much shoved in our faces multiple times, but nonetheless it’s pretty cool. The dice, which were featured in the OG trilogy, are a nice nod to the good old days. You can see in the picture above that they were featured, and we shouldn’t be surprised if we get more backstory on these in the upcoming SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY.
4) Gareth Edwards’ Cameo
Okay, let’s be clear, this film features A LOT of cameos. From Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon Levitt to Justin Theroux and even James Corden, the film boasts a lot celebrity cameos, but we’re focusing on Gareth Edwards’ cameo. He can be seen pretty easily and clearly in the trenches of Crait, right next to the rebel that decides to take a lick off the ground. This cameo is a fun nod due to what he did in his film, ‘Rogue One’. Edwards gave ‘The Last Jedi’ director Rian Johnson a cameo in his film as an Imperial Technician, so him re-paying the favor was pretty cool to see.
5) ‘Rogue One’ Easter Egg has Plot Implications in The Last Jedi
This one is interesting. In ‘Rogue One’, when Jyn Erso is looking for the plans for the Death Star, she reads a couple of plans in the Imperial files, one being “Hyperspace tracking Navigational systems.” When seen in Rogue One, you may see these as ‘Sci-Fi’ words that don’t have any relevance, well think again! In ‘The Last Jedi’, Hyperspace tracking plays a huge role in what is pretty much the elimination of most of the rebellion. This was probably at a developmental stage when seen in Rogue One and the First Order decided to go with it. This can also be seen in the T.V show ‘Star Wars: Rebels’, as the Empire uses it a couple of times throughout the series.
