When Baby Driver hit theaters exactly one year ago, it was a massive surprise hit. Edgar Wright hit a career high by making a film that satisfied both newcomers and hardcore fans of his work alike. So, it’s no surprise he’d want to celebrate its anniversary on social media.
What is surprising, however, is that Wright seems to tease a sequel in the tweet below:
Although nothing concrete, Wright’s last statement about Baby potentially getting “back on the road soon” is clearly meant to serve as an indication that Edgar Wright is considering returning to the criminal underworld that audiences fell in love with the first time around. If Wright does go ahead with a sequel, count me in! Unlike other films of his like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and The World’s End, Baby Driver lends itself to a continuation.
Where do Baby and Debora go after his release from prison? What drags him back into a life of crime? Does he choose to go back? Most importantly- what songs are on his playlist this time?
The possibilities are endless, but count me in regardless. What do you think of Baby Driver potentially getting a sequel? What film would you like to see Edgar Wright make next? Let us know on twitter @superbromovies! –James Preston Poole
