Sony Eyeing Antoine Fuqua To Direct KRAVEN THE HUNTER Movie

Yesterday, it was revealed by writer Richard Wenk, in an interview with our friends at Discussing Film, that the Kraven the Hunter solo movie would be taking inspiration from the Kraven’s Last Hunt comic storyline. DF has released another portion of the interview in which Wenk let it out that Sony is eyeing The Equalizer director Antoine Fuqua to helm the project.

Fuqua has a relationship with Wenk, as the two worked together on the recently released The Equalizer 2. According to Wenk, Fuqua will make a decision on whether or not to tackle the project based on the script. In August, the talented director confirmed that he had a meeting set up with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. It appears those talks never went anywhere as Sony is now attempting to grab Fuqua.

Wenk has this to say about potentially re-teaming with Fuqua:

That’s an unequivocal yes. Antoine is not just a great filmmaker and one of the top filmmakers in the business, but he’s also a friend of mine and we work very well together. So, I’ve got his ear and he’ll decide based on the script. But yes, I think I can speak for myself and Sony that that would a coup to have Antoine step on board Kraven.

Sony is moving full steam ahead with their own Marvel cinematic universe as a Morbius movie starring Jared Leto is set to begin production early next year. And with the success of Venom, a sequel is likely in play and could be announced shortly.
