In a day filled with news about The Worlds of DC such as a Batman Beyond movie being made or the news that Ben Affleck is out as the Batman, it’s no surprise we get some new information about The Suicide Squad.

As we have previously learned today The Suicide Squad is the official title of the film and, will have a release date of August 6, 2021. Now it’s being reported that the writer of the film, James Gunn, is also currently in talks to direct the movie! Sources close to Gunn, are saying the movie isn’t necessarily a sequel to the 2016 academy award winning Suicide Squad.  It’s also stated that Gunn wishes to take the franchise in a new direction, with a mostly new team and cast. The Suicide Squad is said to be heavily influenced by James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy vibe.
