Entertainment news website Comicbook.com recently contacted Warner Bros. in confirming a casting for Todd Phillips upcoming Joker origin movie, tentatively titled Joker. The casting that was confirmed was is the role of Thomas Wayne, originally to be played by Alec Baldwin, will now be played by actor Brett Cullen.
This will not be Cullen’s first time working on a DC film, as he was originally in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises as a Congressman. If the way he played the character in that film is anything to go by, it seems that this version of Thomas Wayne won’t be as friendly or empathetic as previous version have been seen. It should be pointed out that, given the reason for Baldwin’s exit due to scheduling conflicts, Thomas Waynes role could be substantial in the film, more-so than any other live action Batman or DC film at this point.
With the role now cast, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see potential set photos of Cullen as Wayne on set in the near future, given the recent set photos of Phoenix as the titular character as well as a first official look from the director himself.
