As we wait to receive word on if Henry Cavill will return as ”The Man of Steel,” we may have a new Superman coming down the pipeline.
With the CW in the midst of filming this year’s Arrowverse Crossover Elseworlds, which will include a Black Suit Superman, FandomWire theorizes that they could be gearing up for a Superman television show. This could be huge for fans of the DC/CW shows, in which Superman has already been established within this universe, played by Tyler Hoechlin.
They believe this year’s crossover may serve as a backdoor pilot for the potential show. The final decision will come down to how fans respond to the character in this year’s crossover and if they see any potential for a future series. This backdoor pilot approach is also to be expected for Ruby Rose’s Batwoman who will be introduced in this year’s crossover.
This news should come as little surprise to fans of the Arrowverse. Warner Brothers has limited The CW before with their use of the villain “Deathstroke” as they had initially planned to use him in their feature films. When that plan fell through, Arrow was allowed to use the villain once again in Season 6. If Superman won’t be in the films for a while, the character is now free-reign for the TV universe.

Mixed feelings. If they don’t go back to the crossover Elseworlds black suit and make it more like a combination FEEL of Smallville ( in Metropolis ) and Flash, then GREAT! If they make a Superman that’s all dark and gloomy like Arrow or Superman in the movies ( as much as I like Cavill ), then sorry. I won’t be watching.
